Visit Lenno on Lake Como

The town of Lenno is famous for hosting one of the most beautiful villas on Lake Como, Villa Balbianello, which attracts tourists from all over the world. This attractive little pearl is worth a visit, even if just to taste the best gelato on the lake.

You can start exploring Lenno with a promenade along the edge of the lake. This is not very long, but you can enjoy the small harbour and nice views across Lake Como to the forested hills across the lake and the main part has shade from the trees, where you can relax and refresh away from the hot summer sun.

Lenno has also a beautiful panoramic point called  “GOLFO DI VENERE” (Venus’ Gulf) which you can easily reach with a small relaxing walk on the side of the lake.  This is one of the most loved spot on Lake Como, very romantic both by day and by night, with the sound of the waves crashing on the shore and the gentle wind brushing the water.

The Medieval Tower and the Villas of Lenno

The historic centre of Lenno is called Villa and is accessed by a small road. You can see a large red villa on the lake shore here as well as the imposing Villa Aureggi.

In the narrow streets of this part of Lenno you can see a medieval tower called the Tower of Segnalazione and built in the 14th century as well as several narrow streets of colourful houses and a traditional fountain.The Signal Tower was not built for defensive purposes, as you might think when you see it because it looks like a tower from a castle, but was actually a centre for local tax collectors.
